Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to join our team at Intertek. As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of assignments that include independent evaluations using standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. You will also be responsible for preliminary report writing and review, reviewing project plans and specifications prepared by others, attending client site meetings, communicating effectively with clients and project teams, and working on one or multiple projects at a time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of assignments that include independent evaluations using standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Perform preliminary report writing and review.
  • Review project plans and specifications prepared by others.
  • Attend client site meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and project teams.
  • Work on one or multiple projects at a time.
  • Train technicians.
  • May perform on-site observations, sample collection, and specific tests.
  • May work both in the field and laboratory regularly.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Architectural, Construction, Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering from an accredited Engineering / ABET School.
  • Consulting experience in civil and/or geotechnical engineering is preferred, but not required.
  • EIT certification preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work off shifts and overtime.
  • May travel up to 25% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently. Occasionally, over 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, (hearing) and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold).
  • Ability to climb occasionally.
