As a Packaging Operations Specialist at Dairy Farmers of America, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of packaging equipment. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain packaging equipment, including labelers, scales, conveyors, casers, stackers, coders, and other related packaging items.
- Inspect packaging materials for defects and ensure proper sizing of product containers.
- Load packaging materials onto machines in a timely manner to prevent line stoppages.
- Perform net weight control checks and make equipment adjustments as needed.
- Communicate changes in product flow, equipment malfunctions, shortages, or deviations from specifications to production supervisors, maintenance, or other operators.
- Inspect packaging, coding, and seals to verify conformance to specifications.
- Ensure the proper packaging materials are used for each product being produced.
- Work knowledge and experience with wrapper operations, including watching for jams and effectively threading wrap to prevent downtime.
- Ensure machine is supplied with correct material needed to run and complete logbooks as required.
- Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Warehouse, production, or general work experience preferred.
- Certification and/or License may be required during the course of employment.
- Able to effectively work in a team environment.
- Able to legibly write entries for record keeping.
- Able to use company computer systems.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Able to follow directions.
- Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
