Position Title: Hair Care Specialist

Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly

Reports to: Hair Department Manager

Department: Client Care

Job Summary:

This vital role provides friendly and efficient customer service while performing shampooing duties for all hair service clients. Additionally, it includes laundry and cleaning support for the location.

Essential Duties:

  • Welcome clients upon arrival to the shampoo area with a warm introduction
  • Assess clients' shampoo and conditioning needs based on stylist recommendations
  • Inform clients about specific products and general product knowledge
  • Ensure client comfort in the shampoo chair
  • Utilize towels to keep clients dry during services
  • Determine appropriate water temperature for shampooing
  • Perform shampooing, scalp massages, and color rinses according to established protocols
  • Sanitize shampoo bowls between clients as per current guidelines
  • Apply hair treatments and hot towel services as directed
  • Maintain cleanliness in the shampoo area and assist with overall salon tidiness
  • Handle laundry for salon towels, capes, smocks, and linens as needed
  • Address client inquiries and direct them to appropriate staff
  • Collaborate professionally with staff and assist hair departments as required
  • Communicate important information to the Hair Department Manager or Location Manager
  • Participate in required training to enhance knowledge of shampoo protocols and products
  • Engage in quarterly inventory counts when requested
  • Promote salon and spa services through professional interaction with clients
  • Complete all clean-up duties prior to opening and closing
  • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company standards
  • Manage client amenities as directed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

The Hair Care Specialist will manage various responsibilities simultaneously and may be interrupted to meet the needs of clients and staff. The environment can be busy and dynamic, requiring excellent organizational and customer service skills to fulfill the necessary tasks.
