Job Title: Medical Assistant, LPN

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant, LPN to join our team at ChenMed. As a Medical Assistant, LPN, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant, LPN will be responsible for performing routine administrative and clinical tasks, including measuring and recording patient vital signs, recording patient interviews and medical history, and preparing patients for examinations. You will also assist physicians with exams, explain treatment procedures and physicians' instructions to patients, and observe patients and report any changes in patient conditions to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist, and/or other clinical personnel.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Measure and record patient vital signs
  • Record patient interviews and medical history
  • Prepare patients for examinations
  • Assist physicians with exams
  • Explain treatment procedures and physicians' instructions to patients
  • Observe patients and report any changes in patient conditions
  • Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions
  • Collect phlebotomy and other lab specimens
  • Perform basic waived lab tests
  • Prepare and administer medications
  • Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and perform other first aid procedures
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, stocks, and sterilize instruments
  • Practice OSHA safety standards
  • Perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation
  • Process patient phone messages and return calls
  • Call patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician
  • Use communication skills with appropriate medical terminology
  • Follow appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited school for practical or vocational nursing required
  • Current, active LPN license to practice in state of employment required
  • IV Therapy Certification required if required by state Board of Nursing
  • A minimum of 1 year of work experience as an LPN required
  • A minimum of 3 years overall clinical experience preferred
  • Experience working with geriatric patients a plus
  • EMR system experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AMA) or American Red Cross required within first 90 days of employment
