Job Title: Medical Assistant, LPN

ChenMed is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant, LPN to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, LPN, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Measure and record patient vital signs
  • Record patient interview and medical history
  • Catalog and communicate patient needs to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist, and/or other clinical personnel
  • Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests
  • Assist physician with exams and explain treatment procedures and physicians' instructions to patients
  • Observe patients and report any changes in patient conditions to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist, and/or other clinical personnel
  • Perform non-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medical instructions
  • Collect phlebotomy and other lab specimens and perform basic waived lab tests
  • Prepare and administer medications, change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and perform other first aid procedures under physician supervision
  • Maintain supplies, equipment, stocks, and sterilize instruments, practice OSHA safety standards, and perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
  • Process patient phone messages, return calls, and route them to other team members as appropriate, and call patients to obtain and relay pertinent information for the physician
  • Upon physician approval and authorization, call in prescriptions to the pharmacy
  • Use communication skills with appropriate medical terminology and follow appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct
  • Provide health coaching to a defined group of patients to support healthy lifestyle choices and follow up with coached patients via weekly calls
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited school for practical or vocational nursing required
  • Current, active LPN license to practice in the state of employment required
  • If required by employment State's Board of Nursing, IV Therapy Certification required
  • A minimum of 1 year of work experience as an LPN required
  • A minimum of 3 years overall clinical experience is preferred
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus
  • EMR system experience is preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AMA) or American Red Cross required within the first 90 days of employment
