Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Security Engineer to join our team in a hybrid role. The successful candidate will have a defined work location of either Cary, NC or Ashburn, VA and will work from home with assigned office days set by their manager.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Security Engineer will be responsible for assisting clients in overcoming complex network and security technical challenges as they help move the network and security engagements forward with new technology, features, and functionality. This includes conducting product and technology evaluations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist clients in overcoming complex network and security technical challenges.
  • Conduct requirements mapping, technical consulting, project response, level of effort determination, equipment specification, and implementation recommendations and guidance.
  • Minimize the risk of negative effects resulting from poorly planned network changes.
  • Determine the appropriate hardware and software features and functionality required for a change or enhancement.
  • Verify that the new hardware and software levels are interoperable with the existing legacy network.

The ideal candidate will have four or more years of proven work experience as a Security Engineer and Architect, designing enterprise security networks, and experience with at least one firewall vendor. They should also be proficient in multiple vendor devices and technologies, including EDR, SIEM, UTM, IDS/IPS, Firewalls, Proxies, and NAC.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Four or more years of proven work experience.
  • Four or more years of experience as a Security Engineer and Architect.
  • Four or more years of experience designing enterprise security networks.
  • Four or more years of experience with at least one firewall vendor.
  • Experience in multiple vendor devices and technologies.
  • Experience with both security infrastructure and security analytics technologies.
  • Experience with network switches and routers.
  • Experience working in a customer-facing security engineering role.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours when needed.

Prior experience with cloud platforms like AWS and Microsoft Azure is a plus, as well as knowledge of scripting languages like Python or PowerShell, programming, and DevOps.

Estimated Salary

The estimated salary for this role is $120,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on experience.
