Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Technician to join our team at Sacramento Behavioral Healthcare Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide direct patient care to individuals with emotional or psychiatric disorders, supporting their therapeutic journey and ensuring their safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Treatment Planning: Participate in treatment planning by identifying patients' problems, needs, and strengths, and suggesting modifications to treatment plans based on observations of patients' behavior.
  • Patient Care: Implement patients' treatment plans by monitoring their progress, communicating information regarding patients' behavior to other members of the treatment team, and maintaining communication with patients, family members, and referral sources.
  • Hall Monitor: Serve as a Hall Monitor, responsible for the safety and security of both staff and patients, observing interactions between patients and staff, and reporting suspicious activity to the appropriate nurse in charge.
  • Patient Attendant: Accompany and transport patients as assigned, orient new patients to the unit, program, and milieu, and assist patients in carrying out activities of daily living.
  • Patient Records: Maintain patient, program, department, and related documentation, and carry out clerical and administrative assignments to support patient care and department operations.
  • Training Activities: Complete orientation and competency assessments as required for the position, and participate in activities enhancing professional growth and development.
Requirements
  • Education/Licensure: High school, GED, or equivalent required, with current CPR certification and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training obtained within 60 days of hire.
  • Knowledge and Experience: High school level reading and writing skills, legible handwriting, familiarity with medical and psychological terminology, and human behavior principles preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities: Maintain confidentiality of patients at all times, sensitivity to and willingness to interact with persons of various social, cultural, economic, and educational backgrounds, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
