Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Access Control Technician to join our team at Preferred Technologies, LLC. As a key member of our security team, you will be responsible for leading a small team of security and/or cabling technicians to complete access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and related projects safely, within time constraints, at or above quality standards, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of security and/or cabling technicians to complete projects safely and efficiently.
  • Assist Project Managers with planning daily tasks, managing materials and equipment, executing installations, troubleshooting, and resolving issues.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, report progress, conduct quality control inspections, and test systems.
  • Conduct safety meetings with team members and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Install cabling, mount equipment, install card readers, door contacts, mag locks, electrified strikes, and integrated systems.
  • Troubleshoot cabling, card readers, door contacts, mag locks, electrified strikes, cameras, PLC's, intrusion detection equipment, and integrated systems.
  • Maintain a mastery of low voltage systems, relays, principles of normally closed/normally open, series and parallel wiring.
  • Maintain a general understanding of Ethernet networking.
  • Use a multi-meter to test for voltage, continuity, amperage, and resistance.
  • Possess mechanical and computer skills.
  • Operate hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks, to include lifts.
  • Document and report progress in a timely manner to Project Managers and customers.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of relevant security experience.
  • At least 2 years of relevant leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with access control systems, video surveillance/CCTV, intrusion detection, and structured cabling.
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and build on current skills.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks like walking, standing, driving, lifting up to 50lbs unassisted, and ascending / descending ladders and stairs of varying heights with little to no limitation.
  • Currently licensed or must have the ability to immediately obtain TXDPS Security License.
  • Graduate, GED or equivalent.
