Maintenance Team Supervisors:
The Maintenance Team Supervisor will oversee a group of skilled technicians tasked with diagnosing and repairing intricate machinery and operational processes.
This position necessitates the consistent application of National and Local Agreements between General Motors and the United Auto Workers Union. The work is technical and demands independent judgment within the framework of Global Manufacturing Systems, emphasizing Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE).
Successful candidates will have the chance to acquire new skills and contribute to the evolution of manufacturing processes, particularly in the transition to electric and autonomous vehicles.
Responsibilities Include:
- Responding to the daily manufacturing agenda in real-time
- Managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- Adapting to change and navigating uncertainty
- Ensuring accountability through personnel and processes, which may involve challenging discussions in a unionized setting
- Exhibiting strong interpersonal skills and collaborating effectively across all organizational levels
- Applying analytical skills to resolve complex issues
- Conducting necessary evaluations and communicating findings
- Proposing solutions to identified challenges
- Overseeing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting equipment failures
- Meeting production schedules and quality standards
- Adhering to local and national labor agreements
- Implementing corporate policies and maintaining safety and cleanliness standards
- Engaging in regular communication and collaboration with external teams
- Optimizing the use of personnel, materials, and equipment
- Establishing action plans to ensure project completion
- Possessing knowledge of and applying GMS principles
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of one year in a supervisory role or at least five months as an internal GM per diem team leader
- Ability to interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics
- Capability to coordinate, manage, and lead teams in a fast-paced setting
- Proficiency in solving complex problems in a dynamic environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage conflicts and make decisions under pressure
- Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Word, email, etc.)
- Willingness to work weekends and rotating shifts
- Strong critical thinking and analytical capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and resourcefulness
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High integrity and ability to handle ambiguity
- Experience working collaboratively with Engineering and Manufacturing teams
