Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Supervisor to join our JIT automotive plant team in Flint, MI. As a key member of our production floor support team, you will be responsible for providing first-line support leadership to self-directed work teams. Your primary focus will be on assisting plant employees with daily assignments, tasks, training, and work schedules to meet day-to-day expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure timely unloading of trucks by material drivers.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and carriers for scheduling and movement of production materials.
  • Track inbound freight with carriers and vendors to ensure timely delivery.
  • Verify and post inbound material through ASN procedures.
  • Complete daily housekeeping walks and address any non-conformances timely.
  • Report departmental deficiencies to Assistant Material Manager/Superintendent.
  • Complete Material Supervisor checklist daily.
  • Maintain hourly employee files with contacts, disciplines, etc.
  • Assist team leader with completing paperwork for truck drivers.
  • Communicate shortages and safety stock needs to supply base.
  • Train material personnel on forklift operations.
  • Assist material personnel with issues.
  • Ensure parts are stored in correct locations according to PFEP/WMS setup.
  • Verify receiving and shipping logs are up to date.
  • Assist in other material operations as needed to cover vacations.
  • Assist with preparation of loading and shipping documents.
  • Locate HOT seats and ensure timely availability by coordinating efforts between production process, material, and quality reviews.
  • Maintain constant material flow within plant from sub-assembly modules to JIT lines for builds.
  • Maintain communication with customer plant - Material Department as needed.
  • Ensure quality sort material has been sent to quality and inventory has been moved in the WMS system.

Requirements:
  • Prior automotive and/or manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective distribution of goods.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination.

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Prior JIT experience in a Materials related role.
  • Prior experience working in a seating assembly manufacturing environment.
