Job Summary

This role involves working with the Central Bakery Team at our Central Bakery Facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and decorating specialty cakes and mass-produced stock cakes for sale and shipment to our retail locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Decorate cakes to Heinens' specifications
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the leadership team
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organization
  • Comply with all applicable safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a cake decorator is preferred
  • Emphasis on base icing with different icing mediums, good writing skills, and willingness to learn more extensive piping skills
  • Knowledge and experience in using airbrush machines is a plus
  • Ability to re-produce cakes from established designs, design creativity, and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be production-driven with the ability to work continuously on repetitive tasks, while standing
  • Must possess the ability to lift up to 50 pounds on your own or 75 pounds through team lift of product, push/pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to follow instructions and established procedures, basic reading skills sufficient to read and understand recipes and information about ingredients
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to cope with unexpected events, ability to make appropriate decisions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Proven and strong work ethic, proactive orientation, and ability to work in air conditioning
