Job Summary

San Ysidro Health Center is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Dentist to join our team. As a Pediatric Dentist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality dental care to children and teenagers, including diagnoses, treatments, and preventive care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat diseases, injuries, and malformations of teeth and gums in children and teenagers.
  • Examine patients to determine the nature of their condition using dental radiographs, instruments, and other diagnostic procedures.
  • Directly supervise care performed by pediatric dental residents and carry out objectives in the provision of health care, education, and outreach.
  • Clean, restore, extract, and replace teeth using rotary and hand instruments, dental appliances, medications, and surgical equipment.
  • Treat soft and hard tissues diseases of the oral cavity and perform surgery when necessary.
  • Provide comprehensive dental treatment in hospital operating room settings and offer preventive dental services, such as fluoride applications and sealants.
  • Review patient health history and be aware of unusual or severe medical complex health conditions, diagnoses, and treatments.
  • Work closely with medical colleagues to form treatment plans and modalities for medically complex patients.
  • Consult with patients, advise them of their dental status, prescribe treatment, and document according to department, company, state, and federal agency guidelines.
  • Instruct and supervise pediatric dental residents and sign their charts.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and health centers and professional activities that define the delivery of dental health care services.
Requirements
  • Preferred 2 years of experience practicing as a Pediatric Dentist.
  • Preferred 2 years of experience supervising staff and dental providers.
  • D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree from an accredited school of dentistry.
  • Completion of a Pediatric Dental Residency from an accredited program.
  • Public Health Education preferred.
  • Licensed to practice dentistry in the State of California, current DEA License, BSL, and PALS.
  • Preferred CA Oral Conscious Sedation Permit.
  • Current/Valid California Driver's License with a California recognized required coverage automobile insurance policy.
Working Conditions

Mostly walking, standing, and sitting position while bending to treat patients. Occasional travel may be required. Working conditions may require working evenings and/or Saturdays and attending meetings outside regular working hours. Will on occasion work at schools or WIC sites. Will work with blood and blood-borne pathogens and require OSHA training on a yearly basis.

Universal Requirements

Pre-employment requirements include I-9, physical, positive background and reference check results, complete application, new hire orientation, pre-employment PPDs. Compliance with all mandated vaccinations and all boosters is a term and condition of employment.
