The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Direct Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our inter-disciplinary mental health environment, you will work closely with therapists, dietitians, and nurses to support the delivery of discipline-specific treatment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Client Safety and Well-being
    • Maintain the physical and psychological safety of clients, including assigned tasks such as taking and recording vital signs, weights, and meal observations.
    • Document and report any unusual findings to the supervisor, nurse, or therapist.
  • Documentation and Communication
    • Complete accurate documentation of client observations and progress.
    • Notify the supervisor, nurse, or therapist of any changes or concerns.
  • Medication and First Aid
    • Dispense medication and administer First Aid according to facility policy.
    • Document all appropriate follow-up actions.
  • Client Support and Engagement
    • Provide one-on-one assistance to clients in crisis, as directed by the nurse or therapist.
    • Assist clients with nutritional and dietary needs, as indicated by the facility's nutritionist and interdisciplinary plan.
  • Team Collaboration and Communication
    • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and colleagues to ensure seamless care delivery.
    • Seek assistance from licensed staff when needed.
  • Professional Conduct and Appearance
    • Demonstrate professional conduct, concern, respect, and compassion toward all clients, families, co-workers, and the public.
    • Adhere to the facility's dress code and maintain a clean and hygienic environment.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Perform housekeeping duties as needed to maintain a clean and safe environment.
    • Lead or co-lead groups for Residential, Partial Hospital, or Intensive Outpatient clients, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma required.
  • One year of experience in the field of behavioral health.
  • Current valid Class E Driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • L1MA certificate must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Current CPR certification, preferably through the American Heart Association, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of supervision and leadership principles.
  • Ability to perform household duties, including lifting up to 20 pounds and engaging in basic recreational activities.
