Job Summary

Children's Wisconsin is seeking a highly skilled Public Safety Officer to join our team. As a Public Safety Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our patients, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol assigned areas of facilities and grounds to prevent and respond to emergency situations.
  • Conduct inspection tours to identify potential security risks and investigate incidents.
  • Perform general office and record-keeping tasks, including completing incident reports and maintaining accurate records.
  • Verbal de-escalation and physical restraint of patients or disruptive individuals, as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-high school coursework in criminal justice or a related field preferred.
  • At least one year of previous security experience required; experience in healthcare security, corporate security, law enforcement, or military service preferred.
  • Current certification in Principles of Defensive Tactics for Security (DTS) and Professional Communications Program required; CPR certification - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart Association or American Red Cross also required.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills necessary to effectively interact with clinic employees, staff, and visitors.
  • Basic computer skills to utilize equipment and systems, including PC software applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, CAD, Incident Reporting, and Surveillance Systems.
  • Ability to inspect clinic areas, ensure security of all clinic staff, visitors, and patients, and prepare security incident reports, missing property reports, etc.
  • Physical requirements of the job are consistent with the medium physical demand level, including combined walking and standing for up to 100% of the work shift, occasional running, climbing stairs, and lifting 50 lbs.
