Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at CommonSpirit Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our clinical team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare Patients for Examinations and Procedures: Assist in preparing patients for examinations or procedures, ensuring all necessary information is obtained and up-to-date.
  • Administer Medications and Vital Sign Measurements: Administer medications specifically directed by the physician and perform accurate vital sign measurements and documentation.
  • Maintain a Clean and Organized Environment: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment, and perform patient care services that support the physician/provider's practice under clinical supervision.
  • Manage Medical Records and EMR: Comfortable managing medical records, charts, and EMR systems.
  • Communicate Patient Concerns: Communicate and document any patient concerns to physicians, physician's assistants, or nurses.
  • Obtain Authorizations and Refills: Work with physicians, insurance providers, and pharmacies to obtain authorizations for patient medication, including refills.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: Required
  • Medical Assistant Program Completion: Satisfactory completion of a formal Medical Assistant program or military training equivalent to an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Excellent Interpersonal and Organizational Skills: Required
  • Medical Terminology and Coding Knowledge: Medical terminology, familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 coding procedures and reference tools, and pharmacology appropriate to the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
  • BLS Certification: Current BLS certification required (must be certified through the American Heart Association).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Outpatient Setting: Six (6) months of experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Certification through Private Agencies: Certification must be obtained through one of the private agencies approved by the Medical Board of California.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Practice Management Systems: Familiarity with an electronic practice management system preferred.
