About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Podiatrist to join our team at the Department of Veterans Affairs. As a Podiatrist, you will play a critical role in providing quality patient care to our nation's veterans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals.
  • Perform specific duties within your approved scope of practice.
  • Qualify to perform duties as a podiatrist, have completed an accredited residency and/or possess experience which has qualified the individual to perform general duties and some specialized functions and procedures without supervision.
  • Staff podiatrists may also include attending podiatrists who train physician residents, assigned in facilities with residency training programs, and consultants who are capable of giving authoritative views and opinions on subjects in their field of medicine.
Requirements
  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Education: Degree as a doctor of podiatric medicine, or its equivalent, from a school of podiatric medicine approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
  • Residency Training: Completed, or currently completing, residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Licensure & Registration: Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice Podiatry in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
  • English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d).
Working Conditions

This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. Potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing. Transferring patients and objects may be required. May be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures.
