Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled Prep Cook to join our kitchen team. As a Prep Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operations of our restaurant's kitchen. You will be responsible for various tasks to assist in food preparation and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation: Assist in preparing ingredients, such as chopping vegetables, marinating meats, and following recipe instructions provided.
  • Cooking and Grilling: Operate kitchen equipment, such as stoves, ovens, and grills, to cook and prepare food items according to Mia's Table recipes and standards.
  • Stocking and Inventory: Ensure the availability of all necessary ingredients, supplies, and equipment by overseeing inventory levels and communicating with the kitchen manager or managing partner. Restock items as needed.
  • Station Setup: Set up workstations with necessary ingredients, utensils, and equipment to facilitate smooth and efficient food preparation.
  • Food Storage and Organization: Properly store food items in designated areas, adhering to food safety guidelines to maintain freshness and prevent cross-contamination. Label and date food items to ensure proper rotation and minimizing waste.
  • Cleaning and Sanitization: Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen by regularly cleaning work areas, equipment, and utensils. Follow food safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Coordinate and communicate with other kitchen staff members, such as chefs, sous chefs, and dishwashers, to ensure timely and efficient food preparation and service.
  • Quality Control: Assist in quality control by inspecting food items for freshness, taste, and presentation before they are served to customers. Address any issues or concerns to the kitchen supervisor or manager.
  • Safety and Compliance: Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper use of kitchen equipment, proper storage of chemicals, and adherence to fire safety measures.
Requirements
  • Age: Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role is preferred but not always required. On-the-job training will be provided.
  • Fitness: Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Teamwork: Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in a restaurant setting.
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Certification: Food Handlers Certification required.
Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $40,000 - $50,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits including:
