Overview:
The Department of Chemistry within the College of Natural Science at Michigan State University is seeking two outstanding candidates to fill the role of instructors for the Undergraduate General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry Laboratory Program. This is a fixed-term position with a duration of 9 months. The selected individuals will engage in a collaborative teaching environment, leading laboratory sections and contributing to the enhancement of instructional methodologies in scientific education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct four laboratory sections during the academic semesters
  • Work in partnership with the Chemistry Laboratory teaching team
  • Possibly assist in the training of graduate teaching assistants
  • Engage in the improvement of pedagogical approaches in science and mathematics courses

Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline
  • Demonstrated teaching experience or potential, along with a commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols
  • Experience in Green Chemistry practices
  • Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate level
