Job Title: Street Right-of-Way Inspector

Join the City of Idaho Falls, ID team as a Street Right-of-Way Inspector. This role involves performing advanced para-professional and technical engineering tasks in the inspection of construction within public rights-of-way.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan work assignments and assist personnel in related inspection work necessary to control project operations.
  • Conduct inspections and assume responsibility for inspection quality.
  • Coordinate and assist subordinates in inspection, testing, recording, and reporting procedures and methods.
  • Review subordinate work in progress and upon completion, evaluate the same.
  • Make recommendations for personnel actions related to retention, promotion, dismissal, etc.
Requirements:
  • Two (2) years of specialized training obtainable through vocational school, college, professionally sponsored workshops, and in-service.
  • Four (4) years experience in public right-of-way inspection.
  • Considerable knowledge of civil engineering testing methods, principles, and practices.
  • Working knowledge of engineering mathematics, cost estimating, budget analysis, and the City's permitting software.
  • Ability to enforce construction compliance with contract specifications and drawings.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
Working Conditions:

The incumbent tasks require a variety of physical activities not generally involving muscular strain. Frequent physical activity related to walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, and moderate lifting. Essential functions require talking, hearing, and seeing. Mental application utilizes memory for details, emotional stability, and discriminating thinking.
