Job Title: Supervisor, Building Operations

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervisor, Building Operations to join our team at Madison Square Garden Entertainment. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for the daily operational and administrative processes related to cleaning operations of the Chicago Theater and other BOH office and support areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the daily operation and administration of the custodial department, ensuring a seamless and cooperative delivery of service.
  • Communicate effectively with the Department Manager regarding building deficiencies and staff issues.
  • Orchestrate daily inside labor activities to minimize internal conflict and ensure a high level of service.
  • Respond to emergency evacuations in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
  • Manage custodial labor costs for events and post-event cleaning, ensuring budgetary compliance.
  • Promote and handle logistics of employee recognition programs, knowledge checks, and surveys.
  • Plan, schedule, and organize all shift work, ensuring adequate staffing and coverage.
  • Track staff attendance and resolve staff issues in a timely manner.
  • Manage cleaning material and supply inventory, as well as restroom consumables, and track spending throughout the year.
  • Maintain a first-class operation, delivering superior service to internal and external clients.
  • Attend necessary training to ensure the utilization of the latest and most efficient cleaning materials and equipment.
  • Supervise full-time and part-time custodial staff.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 2-3 years' management experience, with knowledge of events, theater operations, and entertainment venues.
  • Previous supervisory experience in custodial/housekeeping, with an emphasis on operations and administration.
  • Candidates with a minimum of 60 credit hours of college-level coursework (representing 2 years) or equivalent self-development through certifications, trade school coursework, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to mobilize key stakeholders, and engage with all levels in the organization.
  • Adept at maintaining a positive, open, approachable, and professional relationship with a diverse staff.
  • Comfortable with managing conflict and responding to customer problems with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to demonstrate success in managing multiple tasks while under tight deadlines.
  • Experience motivating and encouraging exceptional performance.
  • Ability to hold team accountable for outcomes and monitor performance.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, and developing staff to perform at high levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Proficiency in general computer, email, and internal software programs.
Special Requirements:
  • Must be receptive to working outside in inclement weather and extreme temperatures.
  • Must be comfortable with heights (working on high floors) and navigating steep steps and inclines.
  • Must be able to carry a 10-pound backpack vacuum to clean the theater, aisles, seats, and stairs.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds safely.
  • Ability to stand and move about the theater throughout the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, split days off, weekends, and holidays in a 24/7 environment.
  • Ability to speak English/Spanish is a plus.
