The Culinary and Facility Support Specialist plays a crucial role in the preparation and delivery of daily meals at Byron Center Manor. This position encompasses responsibilities related to both kitchen operations and building oversight, ensuring a smooth experience for residents.


Key Responsibilities
1. Review kitchen communication logs and menu plans.
2. Prepare meals in accordance with established guidelines and look ahead to prepare for upcoming meals.
3. Adhere to special dietary requirements and document any alternate meal options.
4. Collaborate with team members to ensure timely meal service.
5. Serve meals, manage clean-up, and properly store leftovers, ensuring they are labeled and dated.
6. Regularly check inventory and dispose of any expired or damaged food items.
7. Assist in weekly inventory orders based on current menu needs.
8. Organize stock and ensure proper rotation during weekly restocking.
9. Undertake special projects as assigned by management.
10. Report any kitchen-related issues or concerns to the dietary manager and address resident dietary inquiries appropriately.
11. Greet and assist visitors while monitoring building activities, particularly during weekends.
12. Maintain daily task charts and provide detailed notes for subsequent shifts regarding preparations and meal service.
13. Support operations in adjacent buildings as required.
14. Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen at the end of each shift.
15. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of one year of experience working with senior populations.
- Proven background in food service operations.
- Strong multi-tasking and time-management abilities, with a focus on prioritizing tasks effectively.
- Excellent references from previous employers.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Friendly and approachable with good conversational skills.
- Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable, compassionate, and dedicated to serving others.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
