Electrical Maintenance Supervisor

This is a key leadership position within the Maintenance Department at Covanta SEMASS. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the maintenance team, ensuring that all maintenance activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the maintenance team, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans, including preventive maintenance and repair programs.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to ensure that all maintenance activities are aligned with the overall maintenance strategy.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the maintenance team, promoting a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Identify and address safety, environmental, and performance issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Participate in incident and accident investigations, and contribute to the development of corrective actions.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in power plant maintenance, including industrial electrical generation and distribution systems, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems, and industrial programmable logic control and data acquisition systems.
- Strong background in project management, job planning, setup, execution, job cost, and time estimating.
- Experience in supervising non-exempt personnel directly, and providing leadership to peer supervisors.
- Ability to use technical manuals, internet, and/or vendors to find appropriate repair procedures and parts for the maintenance of plant equipment.
- Computer software experience, including Excel, Word, Projects, Maximo asset management, and data management software.
- Ability to wear a full-face respirator and perform physical activities while wearing the respirator.
- Ability to do a considerable amount of walking, kneeling, or squatting, standing, and climbing to the various levels of the plant.
- Ability to assist in lifting and/or performing repairs to equipment.
- Ability to enter the boilers, with or without scaffolding, to inspect boilers and check the status of work being performed.
- Ability to demonstrate a positive demeanor in dealing with employee population, contractors, and other departments.
- Ability to lead others by example and motivate others to face challenging situations in a safe, positive, and efficient manner.
- Ability to deal with problems as they arise and work well under pressure.
- Ability to evaluate current maintenance practices and present alternatives to improve productivity, reduce repair costs, reduce downtime, and reduce material costs.
