Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled COMSEC Security Specialist to join our team at Peraton. As a COMSEC Security Specialist, you will be responsible for providing expert-level support for the receipt, custody, issue, safeguarding, accounting for, and destruction of COMSEC material.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and Manage Network Infrastructure Maintenance Program: Develop and implement a comprehensive network infrastructure maintenance program for networks, systems, and services.
  • Develop Processes and Checklists: Create processes and checklists for testing and validating the operational status of network infrastructure systems and services.
  • Develop and Document Network Infrastructure Baseline: Develop and document an approved network infrastructure baseline and assist with maintaining configuration control and policy management of devices.
  • Maintain Device Configurations: Maintain device configurations (including software) in accordance with cybersecurity Security Technical Information Guides (STIGs) and Communications Tasking Orders (CTOs).
  • Develop and Document Lessons Learned: Develop and document lessons learned during troubleshooting that cover best practices, policies, and procedures on the systems/network environment related to this task.
  • Perform Trend Analysis: Perform trend analysis using historical data collected from the operational network to identify operational problems and areas for improvement.
  • Manage Network IP and Address Space: Manage network IP (i.e., IPv4 and IPv6) and address space, including unicast and local multicast address assignments for supported networks.
  • Manage Voice and Video Dial Plan: Manage the Voice and Video dial plan for supported networks.
  • Implement DoD Directed Network Efforts: Manage and develop implementation of DoD directed network efforts (802.1X, Comply to Connect, Zero Trust).
  • Provide COMSEC Support: Provide appropriately cleared personnel to act as a COMSEC Responsible Officer to perform the following activities: add and remove COMSEC, manage COMSEC key, destroy COMSEC, manage COMSEC Digital Management Devices (DMDs), and control physical access to COMSEC material.
  • Support Receipt, Custody, and Issue of COMSEC Material: Support the receipt, custody, issue, safeguarding, accounting for, and, when necessary, the destruction of COMSEC material.
  • Assist with Shipping Cryptographic Products: Assist with shipping cryptographic products and key material weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Use DIAS: Use the Distributed Information Security (INFOSEC) Accounting System (DIAS).
  • Perform Field Tamper Recovery: Perform Field Tamper Recovery (FTR), upgrading cryptographic device firmware, and ensuring the interoperability of firmware versions between enterprise encryptors.
  • Support Installation, Deployment, and Use of General Dynamics GEM-X: Support the installation, deployment, use, and management of the General Dynamics GEM-X.
  • Support High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor (HAIPE) Manager: Support the High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryptor (HAIPE) Manager.
  • Plan and Execute Out-Of-Band-Key Transfer (OOBKT): Plan and execute Out-Of-Band-Key Transfer (OOBKT) for remote rekey of enterprise encryptors on multiple networks using GEM-X HAIPE Manager.
  • Experience in Suite-A and Suite-B Network Environments: Requires experience in Suite-A and Suite-B network environments, architecture, and key material requirements.
  • Read and Interpret Complex Network Drawings: Read and interpret complex network drawings and documentation as they relate to cryptographic requirements.
  • Perform Hands-On Installation, Maintenance, Configuration, and Troubleshooting: Perform hands-on installation, maintenance, configuration, and troubleshooting of COMSEC equipment, as required.
  • Program and Operate Approved Key Fill Devices: Program and operate approved key fill devices, including KIK-20 and KIK-30 and AN/CYZ-10.
  • Perform Over-The-Air-Transfer (OTAT) of Key Material: Perform Over-The-Air-Transfer (OTAT) of key material to remote sites using the Sectera vIPer and the L-3 Secure Terminal Equipment (STE).
  • Provide Training and COMSEC Oversight: Provide training and COMSEC oversight to local and remote site personnel for the KG- 175A, KG-175D, KG-175G, KG-245X, Sectera vIPer, Sectera GSM, Sectera Wireline Terminal, STE, DTD, SDS (KIK-20) and RASKL (KIK-30).
  • Provide Incident Response: Provide incident response using multiple software applications, including Remedy and JIRA (U).
  • Shift Work and Non-Standard Work Schedule: Some positions may require shift work and/or an ability to work a non-standard work schedule to support the USSOCOM mission.

Qualifications:

  • DoD TS Clearance: A DoD TS clearance or above is required.
  • Education: BS with 2 years of experience, MS with 0 years of experience, or HS with 6 years of experience.
  • Previous Experience: At least two years of previous hands-on experience working with COMSEC.
  • COMSEC Custodian Course: COMSEC Custodian Course.
