About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dental Assistant to join our team at Empire Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our dental team in delivering high-quality services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet and Welcome Patients: Provide a warm and welcoming experience for patients from the start of their dental journey, ensuring their comfort and satisfaction throughout treatment.
  • Conduct Patient Assessments: Review patients' health history to provide quality care and ensure accurate diagnoses.
  • Take and Process X-Rays: Utilize advanced technology to take and process x-rays and other diagnostic assessments, ensuring accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Provide Chairside Assistance: Offer superior support to our dentists during a wide range of procedures, adhering to state dental practice acts and ensuring patient safety.
  • Manage Patient Records: Utilize Dentrix software to manage patient scheduling and record-keeping, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Prepare Treatment Rooms: Ensure treatment rooms are prepared with strict adherence to safety protocols and OSHA/CDC recommendations.
  • Manage Supplies and Inventory: Effectively manage supply and inventory levels, placing and expediting orders as needed to maintain a well-stocked and efficient practice.
  • Partner with the Team: Collaborate with our dental team to implement Heartland Dental systems and maximize office workflow, ensuring seamless patient care and efficient practice operations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Working Knowledge of Dental Procedures: Possess a solid understanding of dental procedures and terminology.
  • Experience in a Fast-Paced Environment: Have experience working in a fast-paced and customer-centric environment.
  • Dental Assistant Certification and/or X-Ray Certification: Meet the requirements for dental assistant certification and/or x-ray certification, as required by the state dental practice act.
  • Excellent Communication and Organizational Skills: Demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, ensuring seamless patient care and efficient practice operations.
  • Access to PHI and Data Safeguards: Have access to minimum PHI necessary for performing job-related functions and maintain data safeguards, adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Preferred Experience
  • 1+ Years of Experience in a Dental Setting: Possess at least one year of experience in a dental setting, with a strong understanding of dental procedures and terminology.
  • Dentrix or Other Dental Software Experience: Have experience using Dentrix or other dental software, ensuring seamless patient care and efficient practice operations.
  • Dental Assisting School Certification: Possess dental assisting school certification, demonstrating a strong foundation in dental procedures and terminology.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to Perform Essential Duties: Possess the ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Prolonged Periods of Sitting and Standing: Be able to perform prolonged periods of sitting and standing, with occasional lifting and carrying of up to 45 pounds.
  • Availability for Virtual Training: Be available to attend virtual training sessions (or in-person) periodically throughout the year.
