Position Summary

The Forklift Operator is responsible for efficiently moving pallets and various materials throughout the warehouse, ensuring that production needs are met in all areas. This role includes loading and unloading customer trailers, as well as manually sorting pallets and performing minor repairs on damaged wooden pallets as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make informed decisions regarding the movement of materials to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Operate the forklift by manipulating levers and pedals to control the lifting apparatus.
  • Position forks or other lifting devices under or around loaded pallets and transport them to designated locations.
  • Unload and stack materials by raising and lowering the lifting device.
  • Adhere to company safety protocols while operating forklifts with utmost care.
  • Accountable for achieving operational goals while upholding company values and safety standards.
  • Hand-sort wooden pallets when required.
  • Repair wooden pallets using a nail gun as needed.

Qualifications

  • Forklift certification is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to foster a safe working environment.
  • Follow instructions for maintaining accurate records.
  • Willingness to work overtime as required.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts and schedules.

  • Noise levels may vary depending on the work location.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory, including eye protection, ear protection, and safety shoes.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
  • Good balance and coordination are essential.
  • May be required to lift pallets manually, weighing between 50 lbs. to 75 lbs.
