Electrical Engineer Job Description

As an Electrical Engineer at MDS Staffing, you will play a crucial role in designing and developing electrical control systems for safe, effective, and efficient operation of our products. You will work under the direction of the Electrical Engineering Manager to create electrical control systems for switchgear assemblies, meeting engineering standards, applicable codes, customer specifications, and within cost constraints.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical control systems for switchgear assemblies, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, codes, and customer specifications.
  • Review and interpret customer specifications and sales agreements to ensure accurate design and development of electrical control systems.
  • Program and maintain design layouts and files in the computerized system, ensuring efficient and effective design processes.
  • Create programs for PLCs, ensuring seamless integration with electrical control systems.
  • Redesign standard systems to improve quality and productivity, while reducing costs.
  • Evaluate and select electrical/electronic components for control systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Initiate purchase orders for necessary components and materials.
  • Act as a technical resource for product field support, assisting customers, service personnel, and field sales force in addressing and resolving problems.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design, and quality problems, ensuring continuous improvement of processes and methods.
  • Suggest ideas for new products and stay current with industry developments.
  • Travel to job sites to resolve problems and ensure effective implementation of electrical control systems.
  • Follow all housekeeping procedures and comply with quality and safety regulations.
Requirements:

Design of switchgear, switchboards, and panelboards in accordance with customer's functional requirements.

Supporting product assembly and test.

Providing project coordination and management for customer orders.

Developing product/project quotes.

Establishing and maintaining internal, customer, and supplier relationships.

Additional Skills and Experience:

BS in a relevant engineering discipline.

5+ years of engineering experience.

Self-motivated, good interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience.

Ability to design and implement in own area of expertise.
