As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for assessing self-pay patients at the hospital bedside to determine their eligibility for various governmental and non-governmental programs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Identify potential payors, including auto insurance, Workers' Compensation, and various private insurance options, to ensure proper routing within the Patient Accounting framework.
2. Assist patients in completing the Confidential Financial Statement form and guide them through the application process for available benefits.
Essential Duties
- Conduct interviews with patients and their families to gather necessary information.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of all activities related to patient accounts throughout the Patient Accounting cycle.
- Perform financial clearance functions, including collections and account cancellations for uncooperative patients.
- Follow up on assigned accounts to ensure proper processing of government applications.
- Build strong relationships with patients through effective communication, facilitating quicker processing of eligibility for government programs.
- Conduct field visits to assist patients with documentation and address any issues.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- Familiarity with Federal, State, and County program regulations.
- Proficiency in computer systems, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Strong independent work ethic and excellent communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Bilingual skills (Spanish) are preferred.
Education and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in Social Services, Hospital Admitting, or a related field.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Capability to navigate a hospital environment and visit patients at their bedside.
- Willingness to travel as necessary.
Work Environment
- Combination of hospital and office settings, with direct interaction with patients and staff.
