About the Role

Alaska Regional Hospital is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Medical Intermediate Care Unit. As a critical care nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize nursing care for assigned patients based on assessment data and identifies needs for intervention.
  • Demonstrate appropriate decision making, critical thinking and clinical judgment to make nursing decisions and identify health care needs.
  • Evaluate and document each patient's response to medications, interventions, and procedures.
  • Assist in the formulation, coordination, and implementation of the patient's Plan of Care based on the assessment of their individual needs.
  • Monitor basic EKG, recognize rhythms and have the ability to intervene as needed.
  • Assist the physician with procedures such as intubation, line placement and chest tubes
  • Ensure ventilator, monitors and other equipment are functioning properly.
  • Demonstrate an ability to be flexible, organized and function well under stressful situations.
  • Collaborate with fellow members of the critical care team.

Requirements

  • Current Alaska nursing license in good standing
  • Associate's Degree in nursing required, Bachelor's preferred
  • One-year IMCU experience required; Two years preferred; PCCN preferred
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified (ACLS)
