Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Medical Intermediate Care Unit team at Alaska Regional Hospital. As a key member of our critical care team, you will provide expert nursing care to patients requiring intermediate care, demonstrating clinical competency, nursing judgment, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Prioritize nursing care for assigned patients based on assessment data and identify needs for intervention.
  • Demonstrate appropriate decision making, critical thinking, and clinical judgment to make nursing decisions and identify healthcare needs.
  • Evaluate and document each patient's response to medications, interventions, and procedures.
  • Assist in the formulation, coordination, and implementation of the patient's Plan of Care based on the assessment of their individual needs.
  • Monitor basic EKG, recognize rhythms, and intervene as needed.
  • Assist the physician with procedures such as intubation, line placement, and chest tubes.
  • Ensure ventilator, monitors, and other equipment are functioning properly.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and the ability to function well under stressful situations.
  • Collaborate with fellow members of the critical care team.
Qualifications
  • Current Alaska nursing license in good standing.
  • Associate's Degree in nursing required, Bachelor's preferred.
  • One-year IMCU experience required; two years preferred; PCCN preferred.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certified (ACLS).
