Job Summary

As a Transport Team Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of healthcare professionals in the transportation of critically ill or injured neonatal or pediatric patients. You will collaborate with the team to provide exceptional care during ground or air transport, utilizing clinical assessment, critical thinking, and established patient care guidelines to guide your decision-making.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize transport and critical care equipment in a competent manner.
  • Perform or assist with Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) skills during patient care, including initiation of PIV/IO/UVC, managing IV fluids, naso/oral/pharyngeal suctioning, insertion of NG/OG tubes, needle thoracotomy, and insertion/maintenance of an endotracheal tube or LMA.
  • Assess patient and environmental situation to develop plan of nursing care based on patient status and diagnosis.
  • Monitor patient response and adjust accordingly, communicating necessary information through medical control.
  • Assist and perform daily inventory of equipment on ambulance, aircraft, in storerooms, and equipment bags.
  • Assist with care, calibration, and maintenance of all equipment.
  • Maintain thorough patient care documentation according to the standard outlined by department and ministry policy.
  • Achieve and maintain proficient knowledge of transport team Patient Care Guidelines (PCGs).
  • Act as a preceptor and/or participate in orientation of new employees and students as assigned.
  • Participate/attend in-house education, outreach education, department process improvement projects.
  • Undertake and maintain projects to include research and publishing opportunities.
  • Maintain awareness of current issues related to transport medicine through participation in professional activities, i.e., national, state legislative-elected or appointed.
  • Maintain currency and documentation of prescribed education, certifications, and licensures.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Requirements
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
  • Three years' registered nurse experience in NICU, PICU, or Emergency care.
