About the Role

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies at the University of Virginia is seeking a talented individual to fill the position of Cloud Computing Career Coach. This part-time role, approximately 10-16 hours per week, focuses on supporting career progression for incoming, active, and recent completers of the SCPS Cloud Computing Certificate program.

Job Description

This new grant-funded position aims to empower students with clarity and vision around their cloud computing education and career through one-on-one coaching sessions. The ideal candidate will also develop and present online career-support workshops, provide feedback on resume, cover letter, and mock interview performance, build relationships with employers, and facilitate interactions between them and students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Career Coaching: Empower students with clear goals and visions for their cloud computing careers through regular one-on-one coaching sessions.
  • Job Search Skill Development: Develop and deliver engaging online workshops focused on resume and cover letter writing, mock interviewing, and other essential job search skills.
  • Employer Engagement: Foster strong relationships with employers in the cloud computing industry, facilitating opportunities for students to connect with potential employers and enhancing the program's reputation.
  • Growing Program Enrollment: Actively engage with referral sources and prospective students from underserved communities, promoting the Cloud Computing Certificate program and its benefits.
  • Administrative Tasks: Manage planning and administrative responsibilities, ensuring seamless execution of day-to-day tasks and meeting expectations.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a Master's degree and at least two years of related experience. A strong network within the cloud computing industry and existing connections with employers would be highly advantageous. Proficiency in designing and hosting networking events, as well as providing career support services such as resume workshops and mock interviews, is also desirable.

Work Environment

This position requires a remote work setup, with occasional travel and live meeting attendance expected. Strong internet connectivity and suitable conditions for frequent online meetings are necessary. Please note that this wage position does not offer leave or other benefits and has a cap of 1500 hours of work per year.
