Job Details
We are in search of a skilled and experienced Lead Financial Accountant to enhance our finance department. The ideal candidate will possess a strong affinity for numbers and a thorough comprehension of the financial reporting framework. This is a permanent, full-time position that offers a competitive salary and benefits package. The Lead Financial Accountant will be instrumental in preserving the financial stability of our organization, ensuring adherence to legal standards, and accurately documenting the expenses and profitability of our operations.
Responsibilities:
1. Generate precise and timely financial reports and statements while ensuring adherence to appropriate accounting control procedures.
2. Oversee and manage the daily functions of the accounting department, including month-end and year-end processes, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, utilities, treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting, and variance analysis of revenue and expenditures.
3. Analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements.
4. Establish and enforce sound accounting methods, policies, and principles.
5. Coordinate and finalize annual audits.
6. Provide insights and recommendations to enhance systems and financial performance.
7. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to uphold and strengthen internal controls.
8. Collaborate with our Financial Manager and Accounting Manager to refine financial procedures.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred.
3. 5+ years of proven experience as a financial controller, accounting supervisor, chief, or senior accountant.
4. Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; expertise in Microsoft Excel (creating spreadsheets and utilizing advanced formulas).
6. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end closing process.
7. Familiarity with financial accounting statements.
8. Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
10. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet or exceed deadlines with accuracy.
11. Tech-savvy with experience in accounting software, such as FreshBooks and Zoho.
12. Integrity, with the capability to handle confidential information.
13. Strong understanding of business and income tax worksheets and computations.
