Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavioral Support Specialist to join our team at Behavioral Emotional and Academic Mentoring LLC. As a Behavioral Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing direct support to students with special needs, working collaboratively with our team to create a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct Support to Students: Provide individualized support to students with special needs, assisting with daily living skills, academic tasks, and social interactions.
  • Collaboration with School Staff: Work closely with teachers, counselors, and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Behavioral Interventions: Implement evidence-based behavioral interventions to support students with challenging behaviors, including crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.
  • Communication and Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress, behavior, and interventions, communicating regularly with parents and school staff.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as behavioral support, crisis intervention, and special education.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher in a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year of experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a school or educational setting.
  • Training and Certification: Completion of Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) training and certification required; additional training and certification in areas such as crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school staff; strong organizational and time management skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Working Conditions
  • Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, mornings; occasional flexibility required to accommodate student needs.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to lift 1-15 pounds regularly and 26-40 pounds occasionally; ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods; ability to use both hands and arms to perform tasks.
  • Environmental Demands: Occasional exposure to sun, wetness, dust, and childhood diseases; ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent interruptions.
