Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough research and outreach to locate absent parents or guardians.
- Identify and establish connections with potential extended family or fictive kin.
- Act as a liaison to facilitate successful transitions for youth into identified placement resources.
- Provide professional technical assistance and resource development support to caseworkers serving children with specialized behavioral needs.
- Assist family caseworkers in expanding resources to better support children and families involved in foster care.
- Travel to various locations for meetings, assessments, and evaluations of family homes as necessary.
- Utilize a family-centered, trauma-informed, strength-based, and equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) perspective in assessing youth and family needs.
- Engage youth (as appropriate), birth parents, family connections, foster parents, and staff to promote stability and permanency for the youth.
- Employ data analysis skills to conduct diligent searches across multiple databases, social media, and other online platforms.
- Complete necessary documentation and correspondence, ensuring accurate data tracking for the foster care team.
- Utilize tools such as ecomaps and genograms to identify and locate potential supports and placement resources.
- Collaborate as a team member within multidisciplinary teams or Child and Family Team Meetings to facilitate connections among newly identified family members and resources.
- Engage familial supports and connections to achieve life-long relationships and permanency for youth.
- Understanding of implicit bias and its impact on decision-making for youth and families.
- Ability to engage in difficult conversations with team members and stakeholders.
- Creative problem-solving skills and proficiency in non-traditional search methods.
- Strong communication and research abilities.
- Experience working with children with special needs.
- Leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of conducting background checks.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, criminal justice, or communication is required.
- Preferred experience in investigation and locating individuals.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record with required levels of auto insurance coverage.
- Ability to pass a background check.
