Job Summary

The Maintenance Worker will be responsible for the upkeep of HACD properties, including grounds, interior, and exterior of buildings. Key responsibilities include landscaping and snow removal, garbage and demolition cleanup, vacant unit clean outs, painting, cleaning, and janitorial tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Operate and maintain non-powered equipment such as shovels, axes, hoes, wheelbarrows, saws, trimmers, and hedge clippers.
  2. Operate and maintain powered grounds care equipment such as tractor mowers, riding mowers, push mowers, edgers, trimmers, vacuums, power washers, blowers, sprayers, spreaders, and chain saws.
  3. Collect, load, and dispose of garbage and demolition from properties.
  4. Cleanup of graffiti as instructed.
  5. Remove snow and ice from sidewalks, parking lots, and driveways, spreading sand and salt. On call after normal hours for inclement weather activities.
  6. Perform landscaping, leaf removal, grass cutting, and other tasks related to beautification of grounds.
  7. Perform janitorial and custodial tasks in office spaces and common areas, including cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and dusting, as assigned.
  8. Perform janitorial duties in vacant units, including cleaning entire units, dusting, and washing down walls, cleaning kitchen appliances, and bathroom fixtures, sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors.
  9. Remove resident belongings left in vacant units and perform clean-up duties as required to prepare for vacant unit turnover.
  10. Assist with pest control activities.
  11. Assist maintenance staff with securing vacant units.
  12. Perform vacant painting projects as assigned.
  13. Remove and install heavy appliances in apartments prior to move-in.
  14. Complete daily work logs according to instructions and submit them to Supervisor.
  15. Understand and keep current on HACD policies and procedures, and federal, state, and local codes, rules, and regulations as they pertain to job responsibilities.
  16. Participate in administrative activities, such as scheduled staff meetings, report preparation, performance review sessions, informational sessions, etc.
Requirements
  1. High school diploma or GED preferred.
  2. Must have valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
  3. Experience related to laborer job description preferred.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
