Summary Statement

The individual in this role is responsible for overseeing maintenance services for various facilities managed by DelDOT.

Essential Functions

The essential functions listed below are core responsibilities common to all positions within this classification and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties.

  • Organizes and schedules ongoing preventive or routine maintenance tasks.
  • Directs, supervises, and participates in all aspects of painting, carpentry, plumbing, installation, repair, and maintenance of systems and equipment, along with other related responsibilities.
  • Evaluates job sites, determines appropriate actions, guides staff, and reviews assignments.
  • Plans assignments, estimates costs, time, and materials required.
  • Maintains accurate records and prepares necessary reports.
  • May be required to draft diagrams for structural and/or mechanical modifications and heating work.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Facilities Maintenance Supervisor
Candidates must demonstrate education, training, and/or experience in the following areas:

  • Three years of experience in operating and maintaining various equipment, hand tools, and power tools used in trades such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, or HVAC.
  • Three years of experience performing work in diverse trades such as plumbing, carpentry, painting, or HVAC.
  • Six months of experience estimating costs, time, and materials for projects.
  • Six months of experience interpreting blueprints, schematics, or technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of safety and building codes, laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of staff supervision gained through coursework, training, or experience overseeing the work of others.
  • A valid Driver's License is required (not suspended, revoked, or canceled).

Conditions of Hire

Criminal Background Check: A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire. The recruiting agency may require the applicant to cover the cost of the background check as part of the conditional offer.
