As a Charge RN at St. Louis University Hospital, you will serve as a vital resource for your colleagues, assist in managing unit operations, and provide support to the unit Manager. Our Medical Surgical units cater to a wide range of patient needs, including overflow from trauma, stroke, wound care, and dialysis services. Shift Availability: We offer Full and Part-Time positions with options for Day, Night, and Weekend shifts.

Position Overview:

Responsible for leading and coordinating unit staffing while ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and adherence to clinical objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs, educates, and supervises nursing and support staff during assigned shifts. Participates in performance evaluations.
  • Assesses daily patient care requirements and assigns tasks to ensure appropriate care is delivered.
  • Collaborates with advanced practice providers to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of patient care and addresses any issues impacting desired results.
  • Handles patient care complaints through established procedures.
  • May contribute to the hiring, training, and evaluation of staff.
  • Maintains a constant state of alertness and safety.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

Educational Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent education for licensure.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum of one year of experience as a registered nurse.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent verbal communication and active listening.
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Regular lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, reaching, and data entry.
  • Regular visual acuity for near and far distances and color differentiation.
  • Frequent olfactory recognition.
  • Regular auditory communication and recognition of alarms.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients and objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and other physical movements.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
