Job Summary

As a Lead Nurse at SSM Health, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and leading a team of nursing professionals. This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Coordination: Assign, direct, educate, and monitor nursing and support staff during assigned shifts, ensuring that patient care is delivered in a timely and effective manner.
  • Patient Care Planning: Assess daily patient care needs and develop and distribute patient care assignments, ensuring that population-appropriate patient care is given.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with advanced practice providers to ensure quality outcomes and respond to complaints about patient care through established channels.
  • Staff Development and Evaluation: May provide input for hiring, training, directing, developing, and evaluating staff, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide high-quality patient care.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing.
  • Experience: One year of registered nurse experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant Use of Speech: Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Standing and Walking: Constant standing and walking.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Sitting and Keyboard Use: Frequent sitting, reaching, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Vision and Depth Perception: Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Smell and Hearing: Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors and frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds, and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Lifting and Moving Patients: Occasional lifting/moving of patients.
  • Bending and Stooping: Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Driving: Occasional driving.
Required Professional Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP): American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN): Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Registered Nurse (RN): Missouri Division of Professional Registration
  • Registered Nurse (RN): Oklahoma Board of Nursing (OBN)
  • Registered Nurse (RN): Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
