About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technician to join our team at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in supporting our patients and staff in providing exceptional care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist patients in developing individuality and promoting self-expression through a supportive environment.
  • Help patients acknowledge and accept responsibility for their psychological and behavioral patterns through feedback and positive reinforcement.
  • Participate in admission procedures, orienting patients and families to the unit and program.
  • Perform basic tasks such as patient safety rounding, admissions, vital signs, blood pressure, specimen collection, and assisting with activities of daily living.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma with at least 1 year of experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Human Service field or Graduate of a Psychiatric Assistant or Nurse Aide training program or one year experience in the Behavioral Health field.
  • Certification Mental Health Tech - preferred.
