Job Summary

TEEMA Group is seeking a skilled Visual Instructional Assistant to support our instructional and non-instructional activities for visually impaired students. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in helping our students achieve their full academic, social, and personal potential.

About the Role

This position involves assisting teachers and other certificated staff with various tasks, including implementing instructional programs, instructing students, and recording student assignments and progress. You will also be responsible for using adaptive technology aids/equipment to support academic activities and adapting classroom materials to meet the needs of visually impaired students.

Responsibilities
  • Implement instructional programs designed by certificated staff.
  • Instruct students individually or in small groups in a variety of subjects.
  • Compile, review, and record student assignments and progress.
  • Use adaptive technology aids/equipment to support academic activities, including Braille reading and writing aids and computer-generated Braille materials.
  • Adapt a variety of classroom materials to meet the needs of visually impaired students.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of methods for working with visually impaired students.
  • Competency in Braille instruction.
  • Ability to work independently and handle confidential matters.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of experience working with visually impaired or multi-disabled children, as well as relevant education, experience, and training. A valid Washington State driver's license is also required. We estimate the salary range for this role to be around $40,000 - $55,000 per annum, depending on experience.
