Job Summary

MidLantic Urology is seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team on a per diem basis. As a key member of our Radiation Oncology department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring the safe and effective administration of radiation therapy treatments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer prescribed radiation therapy treatments to patients in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Review and adhere to department policies and procedures regarding radiation therapy treatment protocols.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for patient use, ensuring all necessary supplies and devices are available.
  • Set and activate treatment unit parameters, maintaining accurate and precise settings.
  • Deliver radiation treatments, maintaining visual and auditory communication with patients throughout the process.
  • Obtain and review port films, making adjustments as needed to ensure accurate treatment delivery.
  • Monitor patients for unusual reactions and report any concerns to the Clinical Director and Radiation Oncologist.
  • Maintain knowledge of radiation oncology equipment function, performing minor repairs and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Utilize Radiation Oncology equipment, including CT scanners, with proficiency and accuracy.
  • Apply safety principles and body mechanics to prevent injury to patients and staff.
  • Record Radiation Oncology charges and maintain accurate records of machine downtime and fault reports.
  • Assist in scheduling service calls and ensuring proper handoff of responsibilities.
  • Ensure accurate and complete medical records within the system for all patients.
Requirements
  • One (1) year certificate from college or technical school in Radiation Therapy certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (AART) and American Society of Radiologic Technologist (ASRT).
  • BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.
  • License and certification as required by state.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year certificate from college or technical school in Radiation Therapy certified by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
  • The RT must have at least six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Maintains current knowledge of therapeutic procedures performed in the Radiation Oncology Department.
  • Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Customer-oriented with ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
  • Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Skill in using computer programs and applications including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to build relationships with patients and display empathy and compassion to patients.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
  • Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization.
