Position Overview
The Dam Safety Engineer will assist the Chief Dam Safety Engineer in ensuring adherence to Federal regulations governing dam safety across all facilities managed by Great River Hydro. Key responsibilities encompass the evaluation of annual Dam Safety Surveillance and Monitoring Reports, performing thorough inspections of dam structures, and providing civil engineering expertise for various projects. This role may require travel to operational sites as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the Operational Dam Safety Program (ODSP) and ensure compliance with FERC regulations;
- Deliver civil engineering support for projects and operational facilities;
- Conduct comprehensive inspections of dam safety;
- Analyze data to propose enhancements and improvements;
- Engage with both internal teams and external partners;
- Remain updated on industry developments and best practices;
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering;
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in water resource management or municipal engineering;
- Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) License or a commitment to obtain one;
- Experience in project management and client engagement;
- Familiarity with FERC regulations and Emergency Action Plans;
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities;
- Willingness to travel as required;
- Strong organizational and time management skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
