The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in Ground Support Equipment (GSE). This includes conducting diagnostics and repair of less complex problems, inspecting and approving completed maintenance actions, and solving repair problems using technical publications.
The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience working full-time on diesel generators and vehicles, as well as experience on gasoline engines and vehicles. They will also be proficient in Office software applications, particularly Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct diagnostics and repair of less complex problems
- Inspect and approve completed maintenance actions
- Solve repair problems using technical publications
- Use automated maintenance data systems to monitor maintenance trends and analyze equipment requirements
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on GSE
- Inspect, test, and operate GSE to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation
- Service equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolant, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air
- Diagnose mechanical and electronic circuitry malfunctions using visual and auditory senses, test equipment, and technical publications
- Disassemble and assemble malfunctioning GSE accessories and components
- Store, handle, label, use, and dispose of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations
- Prepare GSE for storage and mobility deployment
- Operate, clean, inspect, and service GSE towing vehicles
- Maintain vehicle records and update paper and electronic equipment records
- Provide dispatch service for GSE, including positioning equipment to support aircraft maintenance and flying operations
Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent certificate from an accredited program
- Commercial driver's license with HAZMAT endorsement
- At least two years of experience working full-time on diesel generators and vehicles
- At least two years of experience on gasoline engines and vehicles
- Proficient in Office software applications, particularly Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
Working Environment:
The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic will work in a variety of environments, including standard office type environments and areas where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes of temperature, less than adequate lighting, dust, wind, rain, and the like. They will also be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail, thus requiring the use of adequate ear protection.
