Position Overview

This is a part-time (0.5 FTE) role commencing in the upcoming school year. The anticipated daily schedule involves morning classes.

The primary objective of this position is to provide instruction and oversight for a diverse student population while adhering to legal, board, and administrative guidelines. A key focus is to foster a constructive learning atmosphere that encourages high achievement for all students, taking into account their unique backgrounds and developmental stages. Instruction and supervision encompass student guidance, classroom management, and proficiency in the subject matter, aligned with District and state standards. This is evidenced through effective curriculum design, teaching methodologies, and assessment of student progress.

Key Responsibilities:

Adheres to the standards of Competent and Ethical Performance as defined in Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR). The following are examples of essential duties; however, not all duties may be applicable to every position:
  1. Engages effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  2. Fosters and exemplifies a respectful educational environment.
  3. Employs proactive behavioral management techniques across all educational settings.
  4. Utilizes current knowledge of cultural diversity in teaching and curriculum development to tailor academic and behavioral programs.
  5. Directly instructs students and guides the learning process towards achieving curriculum objectives; establishes clear goals for all instructional units and communicates these to students.
  6. Implements individualized plans (IEP/504/TAG/etc.).
  7. Assesses the instructional needs of students and prescribes suitable learning activities.
  8. Collaborates effectively with diverse student, staff, and community groups.
  9. Works in partnership with other school personnel to address the varied social and academic needs of students.
  10. Collaborates with team members to achieve shared objectives.
  11. Responds constructively to feedback from colleagues and administrators to enhance skills and services.
  12. Assists administration in enforcing policies and rules governing student conduct, develops fair classroom behavior expectations, and maintains order.
  13. Maintains open communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress.
  14. Seeks to enhance professional skills through ongoing education and development activities.
  15. Utilizes relevant computer and software applications.
  16. Trains and supervises Instructional Assistants.
  17. Designs instructional strategies, monitors, and provides feedback for Instructional Assistants.
  18. Maintains accurate and confidential records as mandated by law and district policy.
  19. Adheres to district and school policies, procedures, and guidelines, exercising professional judgment in the absence of specific directives.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience in differentiating practices for diverse populations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse students, staff, and community members.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Oregon teacher's license with appropriate endorsements.
  • ESOL endorsements preferred.
  • Demonstrated multicultural experience and cultural competency.
  • Bilingual proficiency and/or multicultural experience strongly preferred.
