Faculty Position in Human Physiology

The Department of Human Physiology at the University of Oregon invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor to begin fall 2025.

The goal of this position is to enhance department expertise related to exercise physiology, human performance, and athletic medicine in areas related to metabolism and nutrition.

The ideal candidate will address complex problems related to human physiology, asking innovative and applied questions using human participants that will provide generalizable benefits for people across ages, abilities, and health.

They will contribute to transdisciplinary collaboration in education and research efforts at the UO related to sport, wellness, and human performance.

  • Female athlete nutrition and metabolism
  • Metabolism and nutrition in sport and performance
  • Sex differences and training optimization with nutritional interventions
  • Nutrition interventions to optimize wellness
  • Precision nutrition
  • Integrative and functional nutrition and metabolism
  • Nutritional strategies for menopausal transitions
  • Nutrition across the lifespan

Minimum Requirements
  • PhD in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Nutrition, Human Performance, Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Physiology, or related field
  • 2 years postdoctoral research experience
  • Research experience related to metabolism or nutrition in human participants
Preferred Qualifications
  • Promising publication record
  • Experience with grant writing
  • Experience with university-level teaching

  • Teaching philosophy (2 page maximum)
  • Statement focusing on your experience and plans to contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) for students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds (2 page maximum)

Please include examples of you supporting or leading activities promoting interest and retention in the sciences by individuals from underrepresented groups and/or your future plans to do so.

Additionally, candidates are encouraged to share how their research agenda addresses or incorporates issues that involve or affect diverse groups.
