Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Supervising Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for the daily operation and supervision of a classroom, ensuring that our high standards of quality are met. You will work closely with our Education Leader to review important decisions and develop Individual Learning Plans for our students.
Responsibilities:
You will serve as a role model for all staff in interactions with children and their families, orienting new team members to classroom routines and curriculum implementation. You will supervise the performance of classroom Teachers, conduct regular assessments, and provide feedback and goal setting. You will also participate in decisions regarding probationary action and termination of employment.
Curriculum Development:
You will lead team members in designing and implementing trauma-informed practices and developing Individual Learning Plans. You will supervise and model the implementation of positive behavior management techniques in guiding children's development. You will also orient and support new parents with classroom routine, curriculum, and communication systems.
Communication and Collaboration:
You will model engaging, respectful, and culturally responsive interactions with parents, supervising and leading team members in daily positive communications between Teachers, children, and their families. You will oversee and conduct children's progress reports and parent conferences, and plan parent engagement opportunities to reinforce that the parent is the child's first teacher.
Classroom Management:
You will maintain appropriate standards of health and safety in accordance with state regulations and Horizons for Homeless Children policies and procedures. You will understand and implement emergency procedures, develop and maintain an enriching environment for children, and coordinate transitions of children to and from classrooms with teachers and parents.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, with a minimum of 3 credit-bearing hours of specialized college-level coursework in administration, leadership, or management. You will have a minimum of 3 years' teaching experience, preferably in an NAEYC Accredited program, and Department of EEC Lead Teacher qualification. Demonstrated success in supervision is strongly preferred.
Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary range of $55,000-$60,000 per year, depending on your experience and qualifications. You will also have access to a range of benefits, including a 4% premium uplift for Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.
