The Ladders is in search of a Commercial Loan Officer to join our dynamic team. This role will involve close collaboration with senior management to cultivate and oversee a diverse loan portfolio that includes both commercial and consumer financing options. The successful candidate will possess a solid background in lending practices and financial assessment.

POSITION OVERVIEW: The role entails providing credit solutions to businesses and individuals. Responsibilities include originating commercial loans, real estate financing, and consumer loans, assessing creditworthiness, and making informed recommendations. The position requires thorough review and analysis of financial documents, including statements, tax returns, and business proposals. The officer will have the authority to present loan proposals to the credit committee and will also refer clients to other banking services such as Commercial Deposit Services and Wealth Management. Participation in marketing and strategic initiatives to enhance lending and deposit growth in the target market is also expected.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develop and manage a personal portfolio of commercial loans.
  • Conduct interviews with applicants to gather credit and financial data to evaluate loan risks. Process and make decisions on loan applications.
  • Provide financial consultation to clients and gather necessary credit information.
  • Engage in community outreach to attract new business and loan customers, representing the bank positively.
  • Identify and pursue business development opportunities within the community through various professional networks.
  • Prepare and present loan applications for credit committee approval.
  • Oversee the management of the existing loan portfolio, including modifications and renewals.
  • Monitor the quality of the commercial loan portfolio, ensuring adherence to underwriting standards and asset quality.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Collaborate with external parties such as title companies and real estate professionals for transaction processing.
  • Promote and cross-sell bank products and services.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance preferred.
  • Relevant work experience may substitute for formal education.
  • A minimum of ten years of experience in banking or related fields.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal capabilities.
  • Solid mathematical and accounting skills.
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The employee is expected to maintain knowledge of relevant State and Federal Banking regulations and policies applicable to their role.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The position is primarily office-based, with occasional travel required for client meetings and regional branch visits.
