About the Role

As a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Crisis Intervention Specialist, you will be an integral part of our treatment team, working closely with professionals to provide stabilization and care for patients on our unit. Your expertise will enable you to conduct vital signs, participate in treatment planning, and prepare discharge plans, ensuring seamless transitions for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct vital signs, including orthostatic blood pressure, weight, height, pulse rate information for all patients in care.
  • Participate in treatment planning to develop effective strategies for patient stabilization and recovery.
  • Prepare discharge plans to ensure smooth transitions for patients returning home or transitioning to other levels of care.
  • Provide basic living skills training to empower patients with the tools necessary for independent living.
  • Assess medication side effects and adverse reactions as part of medication mentoring.
  • Perform crisis intervention techniques as needed to de-escalate situations and promote patient safety.
  • Administer injections, document patient information in electronic medical records, and comply with OSHA regulations when administering I.M. medications.
  • Interface with local laboratories to obtain test results and answer telephones to respond to patient inquiries.
  • Maintain licensure in the State of Alabama and complete required training to stay up-to-date on best practices.
  • Attend staff meetings to share knowledge, address concerns, and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
Requirements
  • Valid Alabama State License (current)
  • Prefer two years of nursing experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and use effective listening and communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Ability to walk throughout the facility and remain calm and effective in emergency situations
