Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is a leading power engineering consultant firm that provides engineering, system planning, and studies to electric utilities, energy developers, and industrials throughout the U.S.

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in Mankato, MN. The successful candidate will be responsible for the conceptual, preliminary, and final detailed design of new, upgraded, and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction, and commissioning/startup support through energization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and delivering physical, electrical, civil, and communication design studies, calculations, drawings, exhibits, and specifications.
  • Assisting the Project Manager in planning and executing best-in-class projects, including client and stakeholder coordination, training, and mentoring of design staff.
  • Overseeing design engineers, designers, drafters, and support staff to ensure project quality assurance and timely completion.
  • Coordinating with ECI's subject matter expert discipline groups to complete specialized tasks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • 6+ years' project and design engineering experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Commitment to quality and accuracy.
  • Willingness to meet fast-paced project schedules.

A PE license is preferred. The successful applicant must have an advanced knowledge of power engineering principles, be expert regarding applicable codes, standards, and design tools, possess basic project management execution skills, and have the ability to oversee and direct design personnel on a project team.

Experience in the utility or merchant power industry is a plus. The successful applicant may be subject to client-mandated drug and background checking. Occasional travel/driving is required; therefore, the successful applicant will be subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements. Applicants must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status) now or in the future.
