Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Bilingual Pre-K Teacher Assistant to join our team at the Dallas Independent School District. Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in conducting intensified learning experiences for students in assigned areas and relieve certified teachers of various tasks that are primarily non-instructional in nature.
  • Assist teachers and students in achieving the objectives of the program or activities.
  • Maintain discipline in the absence of the teacher.
  • Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow-up learning activities.
  • Help students with their daily work and in finding activities appropriate for their homework.
  • Review class activities and daily homework.
  • Supervise class breakfast and lunch activities.
  • Talk to parents to provide updates on the student's progress, homework, and social behavior.
  • Distribute informative letters to parents regarding their child's progress.
  • Assist in filing and organizing materials for record retention and distribution.
  • Assist in maintaining student records, attendance, and files.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.
Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Travel throughout the district is integral to this job. A remote working environment or alternate work arrangement is not an option for campus-based employees or campus-based positions because regular and punctual attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite are essential job duties for all campus-based personnel.

Qualifications
  • Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. equivalency), plus one of the following: Associate degree, 48 college credit hours, pass an academic assessment.
  • Paraprofessional certificate required from State Board of Certification.
  • One year of experience working with children.
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position.
  • Demonstrated initiative and a willingness to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills both in oral and written form.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Demonstrated flexibility to cope with the challenges of a rapidly changing world.
  • Demonstrated willingness to remain current with the latest developments in the profession.
